Structural equation model is a statistical modeling technique.

Although structural equation modelling (SEM) is a popular analytic technique in the social sciences, it remains subject to misuse.

The purposes of this paper are to assist psychologists interested in using SEM by: 1) providing a brief overview of this method; and 2) describing best practice recommendations for testing models and reporting findings. We begin by providing a concise conceptual overview of SEM: its purpose, utility, and essential features, the latter through a diagrammatic representation of a mediational model.

In other words, SEM tests if the theory fits the data collected.

SEM is a combination of factor analysis and a series of multiple regression analysis.

When it comes to computers, she has interest in memory allocation and virtual memory.

In her spare time she likes to read sun signs and personality traits.

It involved the relation of covariance with SEM and the concept of theory fit.

The article also compared and contrasted it with regression analysis and presented the advantages, uses, and types of SEM.
